The most adaptable construction

A drawstring pouch is the most forgiving format in fabric packaging — it accommodates contents that vary slightly, it reuses established patterns, and it is the fastest construction to move into production. Where a program needs several sizes or a wide colour range, this is usually the format that makes it practical.

How a drawstring closes

A drawstring gathers the mouth of the pouch rather than sealing it. It is forgiving of contents that vary slightly in size, and it presents well as a gift because opening it is a deliberate gesture. The cost is height: the channel and the gather both need headroom above the contents, so the finished pouch is always meaningfully taller than what goes in it. Specify from the packed contents and let the clearance be added to the pattern.

Check the cord runs freely and gathers evenly on a packed sample — a drawstring that closes cleanly when empty can bunch on one side when full.

Wordmark and lettering on pile

Lettering is the least forgiving decoration on a pile fabric. Thin strokes, tight counters and small point sizes all lose definition where the pile catches them, and the effect is worse on longer pile than short. Send vector artwork, keep stroke weights generous, and confirm the smallest character on a physical sample — this is the element most likely to need enlarging between first sample and production.

The fabric

The suede-feel surface is dense, short-pile and low-lint, which is why it is used where the fabric is in constant contact with polished metal, stones or lenses. It debosses cleanly and takes foil well. Colour shifts with pile direction, so approve a physical swatch with the nap running the production direction rather than judging from a photograph.

Working across the colour range

4 colours are already approved on this construction, which means adding one is a fabric decision rather than a development one — the pattern and closure are already settled.

Colours shown here are photographic references for browsing. Approve a physical swatch under the lighting the product will sell in, and where a programme uses several colours, approve them as a set rather than one at a time.

Common Questions

Will the velvet colour match what I see on screen?

No — and this is worth planning for. Velvet is a pile fabric, so it reads as two different shades depending on which way the nap runs, and it shifts again between daylight and retail lighting. Approve a physical swatch under your own lighting, with the pile running the production direction.

Does velvet crush in transit?

Velvet packed tight under weight in bulk cartons can arrive with flattened patches, and recovery varies by pile. If pouches ship packed in bulk rather than individually, raise it at sampling so the packing method and the fabric are checked together.

Can we foil-stamp a logo on velvet?

Yes — foil and blind deboss are both standard on velvet and are the usual jewelry-packaging finishes. Fine line work and small type can sink into the pile, so check the smallest element in your artwork on a physical stamped sample rather than assuming it holds.

Is velvet safe against fine settings?

The longer pile can shed and can catch on prongs. Where the fabric is in constant contact with polished surfaces or fine settings, a microfiber suede inner is often the safer specification — many programs run microfiber inside and velvet outside.

What are your payment terms and shipping options?

Standard terms are 30% deposit by T/T with the balance before shipment. Alibaba Trade Assurance orders are welcome and PayPal is accepted for sample payments. Shipping is FOB Shenzhen, EXW, express door-to-door for smaller orders, or sea freight for bulk programs.
