Pile direction
Velvet reads as two different shades depending on which way the pile runs. Approve colour on a physical swatch with the pile running the production direction.
Crush under compression
Velvet packed tight in bulk cartons can arrive with flattened patches. If pouches ship packed in bulk, check how the pile recovers at sampling.
Contact with the piece
The longer pile can shed and can catch on fine settings. Where the fabric is in constant contact with polished metal or prongs, microfiber suede is often the safer inner.
Decoration
Velvet takes foil and deboss well, but fine detail can sink into the pile. Check the smallest element in the artwork on a stamped sample.

Custom colours may be available depending on process and volume. Send a physical colour reference rather than a screen value, and approve the result on a physical swatch under your own retail lighting — pile fabrics shift colour with both lighting and pile direction.
Is velvet suitable against silver jewelry?
Velvet presents beautifully but the longer pile can shed and catch on fine settings. Where the fabric is in constant contact with polished surfaces or prong settings, a microfiber suede lining is usually the safer specification. Many programs use both — microfiber inner, velvet outer.
