Texture is the reason and the constraint
A visible weave is why buyers choose linen over muslin: it reads as considered and natural rather than plain. The same texture is what limits the decoration — fine line work and small type break up on an open weave in a way they do not on smooth cotton.
Embroidery and woven labels work with the texture rather than against it, and they are usually the better answer here than fine screen printing.
Natural fibre means batch variation
Linen carries more colour and texture variation between batches than synthetic fabric does. That is part of the material's character, and it matters if you are reordering against an earlier run months later.
Keep an approved counter-sample so later batches have a physical reference rather than a memory, and set expectations internally that a natural fabric will not match to the precision a polyester would.
